How do I optimise my space for hybrid working?

Optimising your space is an important part of maximising your investment. Any space you own or currently lease is an asset that needs general upkeep and maintenance, and by investing time and money into getting your space right for your business, you will ultimately see the rewards.

These benefits affect different areas of your organisation such as increased productivity, better facilities to support neurodiversity and inclusivity, easier attraction and retention of talent and better company culture.

These are just a few of the gains that come with having a modern and refreshed workspace, as well as making sure that your space is fully tailored to what your company needs, keeping it functional and within a budget.

Assess current working styles and what your staff actually need

By looking at how your staff are currently working, you can analyse how they would best work in the space, whether this means you need to include more collaboration areas, focus zones or a bigger canteen area. By creating a space that meets the needs of your staff, they will want to come into the office so that they don’t miss the in-office buzz and the office culture.

If you are struggling to define your staff needs and working styles, our Define stage helps you to drill down into what you really need as a business, whilst seeing how this best fits in with your budget. We bring real value by finding solutions to the challenges you are currently facing, and balancing this against your budget and what else you might want in your space.

IRG Executive Search

We have recently worked with IRG Executive Search, a recruitment company to transform their workspace into a place that is adapted to meet their needs.

As a company that uses the phone to communicate with their customers, an issue they had was the sound travel lowered productivity within the office, and was not conducive to allowing other staff who were trying to focus. This not only affected those who were within earshot that were focusing, but also those that were on the call, as they were conscious of their own volume.

With an improved acoustic design and adding in more meeting rooms, it means that staff can both focus whilst others are on the phone, giving more privacy and a positive result in both cases allowing greater productivity for both.

As a business that currently works with a hybrid working model, they invested in their social space to allow the team to socialise together when they are all in, to make sure that any team culture and atmosphere is not lost. The canteen is a popular space and is often buzzing when the staff are in as it gives the colleagues a great place to have a catch up.
